A prime time TV1 6pm News Story on Ski for Trees

Sometimes when everyone is looking over there it pays to look elsewhere. Found some gems while it appeared everyone was waiting for the chutes.

Fatherhood on a powder day means making the most in a very short space of time so I try to make that time count. 2 runs of snow like this was enough to fill my boots. Happy to pop out of whiteroom to find a clean landing on this one.

Epic stormy powder day in the big chutes at The Remarkables, Queenstown, NZ.

Oh how I have missed spring shreddies! And favourite run of mine in prime spring condition.

Story about the litigation barriers that are insurmountable for Tiny Houses in the midst of a housing crisis and climate emergency.

Plastic Free July Challenge: not washing my icebreaker merino base layers for the month of July. Partly to see if the naturally odour resistant Merino wool can resist my sweaty scent and partly to raise awareness that washing synthetic clothes like nylon and polyester contributes up to 35% of the primary plastic polluting our oceans. icebreaker has 100% merino clothing and aims to have plastic- free materials by 2023. I’m proud to have been an ambassador for this industry leading brand for over 10 years. Thanks icebreaker for making positive change.

How to land in a bombhole and get whiplash: Step 1 - take an ill-timed morning poo and miss the opening of your favourite lift on a powder day. Step 2 - vent built up froath on run #1 by heading straight to the biggest cliff. Step 3 - directly follow someone elses track. Step 4 - do a whimpy little snow plough just before take off. Follow this steps precisely and your neck will also still hurt two and half weeks later. And yes, my goggles flew off on impact.

I tore my calf muscle while shredding the chutes, hopefully this was not my last run of the season... Ski for Trees is still running. Please help achieve the last stretch goal of 100,000 trees planted and off set your footprint at the same time: peteoswald.co.nz/ski-for-trees

For my 34th birthday I got some hella good POW POW while staying in a beautiful hut deep in the NZ Southern Alps. This line was a second choice after our prime line off the same summit looked too dangerous for avalanches. Not a bad "back out" out line.
We spotted this zone from the top of the summit 2444m the day before, its south east facing and held epic snow on super fun features.
After some deliberation we decided to do one more run of this epic zone that day. I did not scope this line well enough, an unforeseen rollover put me in the air right when I was making a slight left arch to thread the last needle, with the risk of slamming into the back of the two blocks I had to go between at mach 10 I ripped the handbrake up hard.
The Chutes, the sneakiest, raddest little run zone that catches all the best snow!
